Tis' the Season

I love this time of year!  There are so many great things about it; the lights, the tree, giving gifts, good food, spending time with family, and remembering our Savior's birth.  Christmas was just Kevin, Katelynn, and me this year.  Kevin made a super yummy pumpkin roll!

Christmas Eve we had a ham dinner together.

We opened up our Christmas Eve Pajamas after we sang some Christmas Songs and read the Nativity Story from the Bible.

Christmas morning was quiet with just the three of us, but we had fun opening up our presents together.

Katelynn was wide awake for everything, well not really.

Kevin made us a yummy Christmas Breakfast of fried ham, potatoes, and eggs.  He donned this lovely apron while cooking.

We had a good Christmas this year.  We are so blessed and are thankful for all that has been given us, including our Savoir, Jesus Christ.

Bigger!

Katelynn is now a month and 10 days old.  She is getting bigger all the time.  Today when I took her to the doctor she weighed 6lbs 9oz.  She gained one pound in two weeks.  Go little Katelynn!

I like to see what she does with her hands whenever she is sleeping.  She always has them in interesting places.  The other day when I got home from sacrament meeting I found Kevin and Katelynn sleeping on the couch.  So cute!

We are loving having Katelynn at home.  It is great being parents. She is starting to sleep better at night, which I am appreciating.

She is not sure if she likes her bath or not, but especially does not like having me put lotion on her afterwards.

Katelynn is Home!!!!

We got to bring Katelynn home from the hospital on Tuesday.  We sure were exctied!  We feel more like real parents having her home.  It is so nice to have her home and not have to run back and forth from the hospital so much.  She is tiny and cute and doing well.  She weighed just over 5lbs when we brought her home.  Her first doctor's appointment is on Tuesday.

We were able to spend two nights with her at the hospital before we brought her home.

We stayed home for Thanksgiving and had our own little dinner.  It was my first attempt at cooking a turkey.  I think it turned out fairly well.  We are so grateful that we have Katelynn home with us now and that she is doing so well.  The Lord blesses us in so many ways.

We had a nice small dinner with just the three of us, well only two of us ate the food.  It was a lot different, but it was fun too.  We had a nice relaxing day and topped it off with some yummy pumpkin pie at the end.

We have plenty of leftovers, but I really like leftovers.

First Family Picture

We realized we had quite a few pictures of baby Katelynn with one or the other of us, but not all of us.  So we took a few pictures tonight.  They are our first family pictures!

Katelynn has been doing great at eating.  We are hoping to have her home with us by this next weekend.  We don't feel like real parents quite yet because we visit her in the hospital, but we know we will once she comes home.  We are super excited for her to come home!

One Week Old

Baby Katelynn is one week old today!  She is still in the hospital but is progressing.  She is in her own little crib now and no longer needs to be in a warming bed.  She is sucking longer while breastfeeding .  She is getting more from me and building up her muscles.  Hopefully she will be able to come home soon.  She weighs 4lbs 7oz now, just a little above her birth weight.

A big yawn.  So cute!

The pacifier covers most of her face.

We are so lucky to have her!

I go back and forth from the hospital quite a bit.  When I am not there I am sleeping or pumping.  It is going to be different when we bring her home, but we can't wait.  She is such a special little girl.

We have a baby girl!

On November 4, 2010 at 9:41 pm Katelynn Saunders was born. She is a whopping 4 lbs 6 oz. and 17 inches long. She is doing great but will be in the NICU for a few days. How long she is in NICU is up to her. The only requirements are that she is able to breath on her own (check), have good glucose levels (check), maintain her body temperature (getting there), eat consistently, and be able to gain wait.

Mommy is doing great!
I guess daddy is doing ok too.

Moving to a new place

It is getting closer! Soon Kevin and I will have a baby girl! Here I am at 7 months pregnant. Only 8 more weeks to go. To get ready for the baby Kevin and I moved into a new apartment. One that will keep us warm and snake free. I have been wanting to move for a few months now. A few weeks ago a visitor to our apartment helped us make our decision quickly. Our visitor was a snake that had come in underneath the front door. Luckily we saw him right after he came in and were able to get rid of him fairly quickly. Also we were able to find a good apartment quickly.

Our Summer

It is crazy to think that the summer is almost over.  It feels like it just started.  It has been good though.  Here are a few things we have done this summer.

Kevin bought me some flowers for Mother's Day, because I am going to be a Mom.  We knew we were pregnant at that time, but no on else did.

We went up to Kevin's Parent's cabin for Memorial Day Weekend.  It sure is beautiful in Island Park.  It was a cold and rainy weekend, but we made is outside to some sites anyways.

We went up to the Cabin again in June, when Kevin's parents were visiting from California.  His dad is a great fisherman and caught this 20" fish in Henry's Fork of the Snake River.

Here I am in all my fishing garb.  I have learned how to fly fish and really like it.  I get a little too excited when I get a bite though and can't always get the fish hooked.  The boots I wear are a men's size 10.  Huge, but I don't get wet.

Kevin had just let a fish go here.  It was only 10", but he caught ones bigger than that as well.

We went to Warm River to feed the fish with some of our nieces and nephews.  You know the fish will eat the bread here, at Big Springs they just sit there.

We stopped by Lower Mesa Falls on our way back as well.  We are blocking the falls, but they sure are beautiful!

Our Garden!!

One of the reasons Kevin and I decided to move into the place we live is so we would be able to have a garden.  I was super excited and there were all sorts of things I wanted to plant.  Kevin was somewhat excited, because he doesn't really like to weed.  Our neighbors plowed an area for us, but when we went out and looked at it, we decided it was too rocky.  Part of the area was going to be okay, but the rest would be too rocky, so we decided to build a garden box.

Our little Garden Box!

The area that wasn't too rocky.

We have planted a few different things in our square foot garden; tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, bell peppers, onions, cilantro, peas, beans, cantaloupe, squash, lettuce, and spinach.  In our other area we planted corn and pumpkins.  We are hoping that the corn works because many people have told us that they couldn't grow it around here.

Kevin is great at watering our little garden.  He worries about the plants getting enough water each day.  We will have to see how big of a help he is at weeding. :)

Spring!

For one of my classes I had to take some pictures.  I chose to do a spring theme.  The pictures are from the terraced gardens at BYU.

These are some of my favorite pictures.  Spring is so great, with everything coming alive again!

Conference Weekend

Over General Conference weekend we went up to Idaho.  We visited Rachel and Isabel while we were up there.  Isabel is super cute and is so small.

Little Isabel sleeping while Kevin holds her.

It is kind of hard to listen to conference when you are holding a cute baby and sitting next to a handsome guy.

Isn't this a great picture?  It is during the afternoon session on Sunday.  Must have played too hard on Saturday night, or just ate a big Easter dinner.

Wedding Cake!

Kevin cutting the cake, he had to re-frost it since the frosting stuck to the tinfoil.

Kevin and I decided to eat the topper from our wedding cake early!  We didn't wait the full year, but instead ate it on our 7 month anniversary.  It was super yummy!

Snowmobiling In Island Park

Kevin and I went snowmobiling in Island Park over Presidents Day weekend in February.  This was one of the first major things we did when we were dating.  It brought back a lot of memories.  We went with his brother B.J. and his wife, Katie.

We snowmobiled down to Mesa Falls this year.  It was fun to see the falls in the winter.  We had to slide down the stairs to get to the viewing decks. (Kevin and I, Katie and B.J.)

A view of Upper Mesa Falls in the Winter.

Have to sneak in a kiss on the cheek every once in awhile!

On our way back we went to Big Springs and then to Upper Coffee Pots campground.  On the way there we saw some moose in Henry's Fork of the Snake River. Katie is blocking the sun for us so we can get a good picture.

We stopped and took a break for awhile.  Kevin decided I was too comfortable just standing, so he tackled me.   We also had a snowball fight with B.J. and Katie.  I think we won!
